Pesticide Use Notification Plan

The New South Wales Pesticides Regulation 1995 requires public authorities such as Council to prepare a Pesticide Use Notification Plan that outlines how we will notify the community of pesticide applications made to public places. North Sydney Council has prepared a plan in consultation with our community:

Pesticide Use Notification Plan (79KB)

The Plan describes:

  • What public places are covered by the plan;
  • who regularly uses these public places and an estimate of the level of use;
  • how and when North Sydney Council will provide the community with information about its pesticide applications in public places (ie. what notification arrangements will be used); and
  • how the community can access this plan and get more information.

North Sydney Council maintains and manages a wide range of local sportsgrounds. These cater for soccer, hockey, rugby league, rugby union, cricket and netball. Also available are cricket practice nets and netball hoops and courts. Many of the sportsgrounds have timed lights to allow for their use at night.

North Sydney Council has a user-pays system, levying fees on local schools, organisations and sporting groups who wish to hire sports fields exclusively for the purpose of organised sport.

The income generated is used to maintain the facilities to a high standard. Fees and charges depend upon the type of facility being hired and the user group, for example there is a commercial rate, senior rate, juniors/schools rate and social/casual rate. User groups include sporting organisations, schools, business corporations and the general public.

Hire of parks and reserves is restricted to 32 hours per week / per ground during winter in order to maintain the playing surfaces in good condition.

Wet Weather Closures

Council offers a Mobile Information Service that informs hirers and users of the status of our sports grounds and facilities.

On your mobile phone go to
select the Facilities and Parks tab
view updated availability of sporting grounds and parks.

Or, the same information is also available by calling Council's Wet Weather Hotline 9936 8220.

The hotline's recorded message is updated daily at approximately 8am each morning but it may be changed again later that morning if the weather clears. Please listen to the message carefully, some grounds drain better than others and may remain open for play.
