State of the Environment ReportThe State of the Environment Report (SoE) is a comprehensive report on the core elements of environmental health. SoE reports are produced at all three levels of government, in an effort to track our progress and inform our response to environmental issues. The Report describes the pressures experienced, the impacts felt, and the responses made by the Northern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (NSROC) to the challenges we face. North Sydney Council and the six other Councils that make up NSROC produce the regional SoE Report. The benefit of a regional report is that it enables the community and NSROC to have a greater understanding of the environment within a regional context. It also promotes opportunities for NSROC councils to act as a unified group in response to common challenges. Working together regionally has already yielded benefits including the sharing of ideas on sustainability reporting, environmental practices, innovation in the region and the forging of stronger regional links. NSROC has also commissioned three studies that cover the economic, social and environmental impacts of population growth in the region from a local government perspective and suggest future actions that could ameliorate these impacts.
