North Sydney Community Centre
Location: 220 Miller Street at the back of Civic Centre off Miller and Mclaren Streets.
The parkland setting is just minutes from the Central Business District and the North Sydney Oval. It is easily accessible by bus routes running along Miller Street and is a 10 minute walk from North Sydney station. The Centre is mostly self-funded through service fees and fund-raising activities. It also receives financial and other support from North Sydney Council.
In 2006 Council demolished and rebuilt the Community centre on the same site as well as providing an enhanced playground. The new building is 50% larger than the old, to meet licensing requirements for child care. The building was designed on sustainability principles by Mark Windass of WHP Architects, and built by Barker Constructions. These design principles are outlined in this brochure:
