Maccallum Pool

Maccallum Pool, on the western side of Cremorne Point, is a unique harbourside pool with heritage character and superb views. Its waterside timber deck is an unparalleled sun bathing spot - especially on winter afternoons.

It was originally just a rock pool created by local residents to form a safe harbour swimming hole. Our History Walk leaflet has more:

The architectural style of the current pool dates back to the 1920s and was restored in keeping with this heritage theme by Council in 1985-86.

Cleaning Timetable

Maccallum Pool needs to be emptied, cleaned, and refilled usually once a week due to its position above the highwater mark. Therefore the pool is closed during cleaning for about 9 hours. Cleaning closure times are below but may vary according to tides and weather conditions. Please check the pool noticeboard as well.

* To re-fill the pool takes about six hours. But first the cleaners must wait for the tide to cover a valve, which might mean waiting until the next day to re-start the pump. So the times above include a time for re-starting the pump and a time when the pool will be full and ready for use
