Bradfield Plaza

The new Bradfield Plaza, opened on 11 November 2007, features a paved area, retaining walls, extensive landscaping, seating, and a new toilet block.

It results from collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority and North Sydney Council.

This project was developed in response to concerns from both the community and the RTA over the previous condition of this area, particularly with regards to security, general appearance and maintainability.

The plaza replaced a dusty and degraded patch of ground underneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge at Kirribilli.

Design plans addressed these concerns in order to create an inviting recreational space that blends with the surrounding parkland and urban environment. It has proved popular particularly at lunchtimes and during peak commuting periods.

North Sydney Mayor Genia McCaffery said Bradfield Plaza is a great venue for markets and outdoor events including New Year's Eve and Australia Day celebrations.
