The revised Plan is divided into two parts.  Part 1 is the Strategic Framework and is divided into five sections, i.e:

  1. Introduction - with an explanation of the Plan and the scope which is covered by it;
  2. Companion Animals Management: A New Agenda for Local Government - discusses the key issues arising from the Companion Animals Act 1998;
  3. The Local Context - analyses the existing situation in the North Sydney Local Government Area (LGA);
  4. Objective and aims; and
  5. Community Consultation.

The Action Plans are contained in Part 2. They have been grouped into ten key issue areas i.e.

  • Education and dissemination;
  • Identification and registration;
  • Dogs in public places;
  • Faeces management;
  • Wandering dogs;
  • Excessive barking;
  • Dangerous dogs and restricted breeds;
  • Cat management;
  • Animal welfare and safety;
  • Keeping of Domestic Animals other than Dogs and Cats
