This Strategy replaces the North Sydney Bike Plan 2004 (below), the aim is to improve cyclist amenities and safety in the Local Government Area over the coming years.
For cyclists travelling through North Sydney, Council has developed a brochure and map for download, or obtain from Stanton Library or our Customer Service Centre.
The North Sydney community has consistently identified the negative impacts of motor vehicles as a significant issue and become less tolerant of these impacts. Hence there are measures to alleviate the negative impacts and improve facilities for both pedestrians and cyclists. These new facilities often compete for road space which is currently allocated to motor vehicles. Council acknowledges these major user groups and, through its policies and plans, works to provide balanced management of all road reservations within the Council area.
The Bike Plan sets out the goals for improving cyclist amenities and safety in the Local Government Area over coming years and includes the addition of 18 bicycle routes. It is available for partial download above; or in full at our Customer Service Centre.
