The 2020 Vision (Strategic Plan) is the shared vision of the North Sydney community for the year 2020. It is Council's most important strategic document.

The 2020 Vision was developed in 2004 following extensive community consultation. Community members, councillors, government and non-government stakeholders and staff - all worked together to identify the direction for North Sydney's future in this plan.

Progress towards achieving the Vision is reported every two years (see below). The targets to measure progress towards the Vision are reviewed following the local government elections every four years.

Reviewing the 2020 Vision in 2009

The 2020 Vision is currently under review in 2009. The review will look at the challenges and opportunities facing North Sydney and gather together our community's priorities for the coming years 2009-12.

The review also provides an opportunity for Council to transition its corporate planning to the Department of Local Government's Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.

2020 visionConsultation and Feedback

Council talked with our community in Feb and Apr 2009 using a blog, online feedback form, reply-paid postcards, written submissions, and workshops. So far, Council has heard from over 860 people, community groups and organisations. And over 260 people are receiving progress updates via our "keep informed" e-news. > Subscribe to the e-news

The Management Plan describes the activities Council will undertake to contribute to the achievement of the 2020 Vision. In line with the Department of Local Government's proposed Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, Council will changed its Management Plan to a 4 year Delivery Program and 1 year Operational Plan in 2010-11.
