Waste Avoidance:

Before throwing something out consider giving it away to an op shop or a re-use & repair cooperative such as Reverse Garbage, The Bower or Cycle Recycle (bicycles). Alternatively you could sell or give it away through an online classified service such as Gumtree. You may be be surprised what some people out there will happily take off your hands.

Collection:

General household clean-ups are limited to 2 cubic metres (equal to small box trailer load) for single dwellings and 0.5 cubic metres for each unit in multi-unit dwellings. Small items should be placed in boxes, hessian bags or reusable bins.

Waste for collection should either be placed within 2 metres of a convenient entrance to the property or immediately outside the boundary of the property on the night before the next collection date.

Please let us know when you book the service if you are disposing of white goods such as stoves, washing machines, refrigerators or dryers. This will ensure that these goods go to a scrap metal dealer for recycling. Please tape or tie them shut so children cannot get inside them.

Items Accepted:

  • clothing
  • china
  • furniture (cupboards, tables, chairs, beds & mattresses)
  • carpet (bundled with string in rolls no greater than 1.2m in length)
  • small appliances such as microwaves and televisions
