The North Shore Historical Society was formed in 1959 during the public outcry over the planned demolition of Bell'vue, a 19th century cottage at Blues Point, to make way for Blues Point Tower.
Since then the Society has documented the history of North Sydney in its regular journals and in the publication of several books. The journals are available for perusal and the books for loan and purchase at the Stanton Library. The Society's archives and research files are housed in the North Sydney Heritage Centre.
Each year the Society offers the Isabella Brierley prize for original, unpublished manuscripts on North Sydney history.
The Society meets monthly and visitors are most welcome. Contact 9450 1552 regarding membership and other enquiries.
