Sawmillers Reserve
Parks and Reserves Map (817KB)
History
Harry Howard in association with Barbara Buchanan designed Sawmillers Reserve and it has stood as testament to his modernist vision that it is well-designed and a popular destination with visitors looking for peace and quiet on the foreshore - there is a playground with treehouse only in the centre and no playing fields.
Access
Turn off Blues Point Road, North Sydney, take either French St or West Crescent St and park; or park at the top of Munro st and take the winding steps down to Sawmillers Reserve, a beautiful view of the harbour and an old shipwreck lies just offshore in Berry's Bay.
Interest Spots
It's a wonderful site for picnics and for the view of Pyrmont or Balmain across the water, and the nearby Balls Head Reserve of Waverton peninsula. Fishermen use the foreshore a little, there are boathouses nearby, and native vegetation lines the steep hills backing the reserve.
There is a children's treehouse and wood play area in the centre of the Reserve only, other than that the steep surrounding hill leads to a long and level area of grass.
