Foreshores and Waterways
The North Sydney area enjoys access to Sydney Harbour and the river. Water-based recreation is an essential part of living here, and as it becomes more popular then greater access to the foreshores and waterways is required. Council is determined to allow fair and equitable access for all.

Foreshore Access Map (784KB)
Council's main aim is to identify opportunities to improve access to North Sydney's foreshore for a range of recreational users including pedestrians, cyclists and recreational boaters.
Prepared in consultation from Staff, Councillors, Community, Precincts, Pedestrian and Bicycle Subcommittees, the Strategy examines the existing foreshore access system to identify where missing links to continuous access can be sustainably addressed, and where opportunities to extend access through redeveloping sites should be pursued.
The strategy also identifies an access plan and establishes priorities for ongoing implementation and enhancement of existing access.

This project aims to provide access to Sydney Harbour via Nutcote. - Improving public access to Middle Harbour via the Shellbank Bush Care site
This project lies on the boundary of Mosman Council and will formalise access to the foreshore along a steeply sloping bushland site. The project also includes the provision of dinghy storage racks. - Folly Point intertidal access and dinghy storage
This project addresses three issues on Folly Point - improvement of existing stairways and worn pathways to foreshore; increased access to larger areas of the intertidal zone; and provision of dinghy storage racks to service moorings in both Long Bay and Willoughby Bay.
