Sports Fields Information

North Sydney Council has a user-pays system, levying fees on local schools, organisations and sporting groups who wish to hire sports fields exclusively for the purpose of organised sport. The income generated is used to maintain the facilities to a high standard. Fees and charges depend upon the type of facility being hired and the user group, for example there is a commercial rate, senior rate, juniors/schools rate and social/casual rate. User groups include sporting organisations, schools, business corporations and the general public. Hire of parks and reserves is restricted to 32 hours per week / per ground during winter in order to maintain the playing surfaces in good condition.

General Information

  1. Marquees are not permitted in the North Sydney Council area.
  2. The driving of vehicles onto a park is not permitted under any circumstances.
  3. If using a kettle or open flame barbecue, you must first check with NSW Fire Brigades (Ph: 1800 679 737) to ensure there isn't a total fire ban in place. Drip mats must be placed under the barbeque to collect any spillage. Council will take steps to recoup costs should any damage occur.

Wet Weather Closures

Playing on a water-logged ground is not only unsafe, it also damages the surface playing area. For the benefit of all hirers, it is important that grounds are not used when they are officially closed. Our mobile information service notifies the status of sporting ovals and facilities. To receive this information, simply log on to http://m.northsydney.nsw.gov.au and select SportingOvals, then select the particular Park or Oval.

You can also access this information via SMS  Users text a unique code to 19922767 and receive a response (BounceBack) which details the status of that particular sporting field.  The codes for this service are:

Back to Back Bookings/Overstays:

Council's grounds continue to be heavily booked. To ensure ground quality is maintained and that all hirers receive fair ground allocations, bookings times must be strictly adhered to.

Parking:

When using Council sportsgrounds, please ensure that all vehicles are parked in the designated parking areas (and not on a grassed area unless authorised by Council).

Company Events:

If the booking is on behalf of a company, then you don't have to pay for Public Liability Insurance. However, you must include a copy of your Certificate of Currency (at the time of lodgement).
