Sports Grounds InformationNorth Sydney Council has a user-pays system, levying fees on local schools, organisations and sporting groups who wish to hire sportsgrounds exclusively for the purpose of organised sport. The income generated is used to maintain the facilities to a high standard. Fees and charges depend upon the type of facility being hired and the user group, for example there is a commercial rate, senior rate, juniors/schools rate and social/casual rate. User groups include sporting organisations, schools, business corporations and the general public. Hire of parks and reserves is restricted to 32 hours per week / per ground during winter in order to maintain the playing surfaces in good condition. General Information
Wet Weather ClosuresPlaying on a water-logged ground is not only unsafe, it also damages the surface playing area. For the benefit of all hirers, it is important that grounds are not used when they are officially closed. To find out if an oval is closed, you will need to telephone the Wet Weather Line: 9936 8220. The recorded message is updated daily at approximately 8am each morning (note: it may be changed again later that morning if the weather clears). Please listen to the message carefully, some grounds drain better than others and may remain open for play. If for any reason you feel in need of further clarification on the state of your allocated ground, please call Peter Devlin Ph: 0419 239 067, or David Somerville Ph: 0407 225 835. Back to Back Bookings/Overstays:Council's grounds continue to be heavily booked. To ensure ground quality is maintained and that all hirers receive fair ground allocations, bookings times must be strictly adhered to. Parking:When using Council sportsgrounds, please ensure that all vehicles are parked in the designated parking areas (and not on a grassed area unless authorised by Council). Public Liability Insurance:Everyone must have insurance. If your booking is on behalf of a company you will need to provide your own insurance (i.e., you just need to include a copy of your Certificate of Currency with your application). Company Events:If the booking is on behalf of a company, then you don't have to pay for Public Liability Insurance. However, you must include a copy of your Certificate of Currency (at the time of lodgement). Note: It must include North Sydney Council as an 'Interested Party.' The policy must be for no less than $10 Million. Please be careful, some policies may not cover your group activity if it's held away from the office. Applications to be forwarded to:Denise Smith LightingThe lights will be turned on at the time(s) specified by the hirer. If additional time is required for setting up and/or packing up, then this must be factored into the start and finish times of the booking.
