Bradfield Park Heritage Walk"Walk Back in Time"Have you had a chance to wander along the new Bradfield Park Heritage Walk yet? Why not go for a stroll at lunch time and read all about the fascinating history of the Milsons Point area. The Bradfield Park Heritage Walk was unveiled in March 2007 as part of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Signs on the walk tell the story, through words and pictures, of the area's progressive development from Aboriginal habitation, early British settlement and land grants, through to the building of the bridge and the associated impacts on the local community. See the footprints of the former buildings and the alignment of former streets outlined on the park surface. A special feature is the 'Foxie' sculpture , a fox terrier dog that sits on top of the memorial drinking fountain in the centre of the rockery garden (pictured). Start either at the Burton Street or the Lavender Street end of the walk (see map at right) and learn about the characters that lived and worked in Milsons Point, the houses and businesses that were sacrificed to make way for the Bridge approaches and the creation of the park we see today.
