The apartment block is in the initial stages of the program and will soon be undergoing energy, waste and water audits for each apartment as well as the common areas of the block. My Green ApartmentMy Green Apartment is a North Sydney Council initiative aimed to assist residents of apartment blocks within the North Sydney Local Government Area, to reduce their environmental impact. The program will actively engage apartment residents, body corporate members, and managing agents to increase their capacity to engage in environmentally sustainable behaviour and streamline their access to sustainable technologies. One apartment block will be selected to undergo a 'green make-over' receiving: - FREE energy, water and waste assessment, identifying cost effective measures to reduce your bills and impacts on the environment.
- FREE installation of in home displays to measure energy use in each apartment.
- 3 FREE informal workshops on sustainable living issues of your choice.
- $10,000 in dollar-for dollar funding for identified energy, water and waste reduction technologies for the apartment block common areas.
The apartment block will also serve as a demonstration site for My Green Apartment case studies, resource kit, forums and open days to assist other local apartment blocks to undergo their own green transformations.
