North Sydney CBD Vision
Planning for the Future
North Sydney’s CBD is undergoing an exciting period of change.
When the Victoria Cross Metro Station opens on Miller Street in 2024, it will be easier for thousands of people to get here, making North Sydney CBD one of the most accessible business districts in Sydney.
With better connections and more people coming to the CBD, North Sydney Council is investing in our public spaces with a series of major projects underway. This is attracting significant commercial investment with approval of a number of new office towers in the centre. There are also plans underway to deliver new retail, laneway dining, recreation and community facilities to compliment the public domain upgrades and commercial investments.
These initiatives will ensure the North Sydney CBD remains a vibrant, globally connected commercial centre that meets the forecast demand for jobs growth and supports an engaging public domain that better serves our growing community and workforce.
This video gives you a bird's eye view of the major Council-led projects proposed for the CBD and surrounding areas. These projects will deliver additional open-space, a more pedestrian friendly environment and enliven existing public spaces.
North Sydney is expected to accommodate between 15-21,000 new jobs by 2036. To support these additional jobs and revitalise the centre, over $3 billion of approvals have been granted since 2012. Here’s a video of the approved commercial towers in the CBD, with many now under construction or near completion:
