GPT Smoothey Park

Gross Pollutant Trap Construction

Council’s Contractor, Optimal Stormwater, will soon be commencing the construction of a new Gross Pollutant trap in Smoothey Park near the Russell Street, Wollstonecraft (see map below).

The new gross pollution trap will improve the quality of stormwater draining to Sydney Harbour.

The gross pollution trap is designed to screen pollution including litter, plastics, bottles, debris and sediment and will be regularly cleaned.

Works will be commencing on the 9 November 2020 and scheduled to be completed over 5 weeks depending on weather conditions.

During the construction period, traffic control will be temporarily in place as required. The construction site will also be fenced with alternative pedestrian access provided. We respectfully ask that you are careful in and around the construction zone for this period to ensure the safety of the community, workers and yourselves.

Construction vehicles including trucks and excavators will be operating on site so noise will be generated from the works. The construction works will be managed as much as possible to minimise the noise and disruption.

If you have any questions, please contact Ben Wolfgramm, Optimal Stormwater’s, Project Manager on (02) 9417 8369 or Jim Moore, North Sydney Council’s, Engineering Project Manager on (02) 9936 8233.
