Youth Visual Storytelling Project

The Youth Visual Storytelling Project 2018 showcased short films and photography projects by 26 local high school students from nine secondary schools (Cammeraygal High School, Newtown High School, Loreto Kirribilli, Mosman High School, Marist College North Shore, Monte Sant'Angelo Mercy College, St Aloysius College, SCECGS Redlands, and Willoughby Girls High School).

The students worked with creative industry professionals over six weeks of hands-on workshops to create, edit and share powerful stories.

Themes included: diversity, identity, the environment, technology, cultural heritage, everyday experiences, family and community. The final exhibition and film screening at Contact Sheet showcased their unique viewpoints and perspectives.

During the exhibit, visitors voted two People’s Choice Awards, and congratulations goes to this year’s winners:

Photography - Louis Inwood for his photo series representing the effects of climate change.

Filmmaking - Emily Carson, Hannah Codling, Niamh O'Halloran for their short film ‘Runagate’
