Youth Visual Storytelling Project 2018
Arts & Culture North Sydney is pleased to present the Youth Visual Storytelling Project!
Over six weeks of FREE hands-on workshops with creative industry professionals, students explore narrative, storytelling and documentary through the lens of a camera.
Working closely with mentors students are guided to create, edit, and share a powerful story on what it means to be part of community considering the many ways we're shaped by identity, experiences and environment.
The workshop tutors, Contact Sheet Photography and Digital Storytellers, are highly skilled and respected in their fields and have years of experience teaching students at all skill levels.
Students have the opportunity to learn new creative and technical skills, meet like-minded people, present their work in a professional space, tell a story that matters to you, have fun and go in the running to win prizes. Students are welcome to work individually or in groups of two or three and can use the opportunity to work on projects that support school assignments. No experience necessary and all skills levels are encouraged!
What story do you want to tell?
Photography Workshops will take place 4-6.30pm Tuesdays in St Leonards.
Filmmaking Workshops will take place 4-6pm Wednesdays in North Sydney.
Digital Storytellers is a social enterprise of filmmakers who combine powerful emotive stories with purpose-driven narratives to empower participants to tell stories that matter. The facilitators show participants how to find, make, edit and share their stories using tools and resources they already have.
Contact Sheet is a creative space for photography, who design and deliver unique community-focussed, change-making participatory programs that use the medium of photography to engage participants in an educational process and empower participants by using photography as a visual narrative that creates open and constructive dialogue.
A drop-in Information Session will take place 5-6pm Tuesday 10 April at the Ros Crichton Pavilion, 200 Miller Street, North Sydney. During this session, students will have the opportunity to meet some of our tutors, ask any questions, and receive some assistance with their sign-up form.
