Changes to Services

The following Council services have been changed or suspended, as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Bushcare suspended

Bushcare Group work sessions (including Adopt a Plot meetings) and the Bushcare event program have been suspended until further notice.

Stanton Library closed

Stanton Library is closed to the public until further notice. Items on loan will not be due for return during this period, and no fees will be accrued. You may want to take the opportunity to explore our online collection of eBooks, magazines and databases, as well as our range of online children’s resources that are available any time. Below is a sample of the amazing digital collections that Stanton and Shorelink have to offer which are all free. Members simply login with their library card number and password:

Staff have also brought forward the launch of the new Stanton Library app, available now in the App Store and Google Play. Library members can use the app to manage their account and access Digital collections.

Community members can join online if they're not already members and Library staff will contact them with their card details so they can access the full collection of online resources from home.

The Children's librarians at Stanton Library have created a new Instagram account @Stanton_Library where they will present storytimes full of books, songs and silliness.

Planet X Youth Centre

The Planet X Youth Centre Building is closed. Staff are still providing services to young people online through one on one support, group networking opportunities and online activities and workshops that will benefit the youth. The aim is to ensure all youth who use the service continue to be supported throughout the pandemic.


Community Centres update

North Sydney Community Centre - The first rollout of Virtual Classes at the North Sydney Community Centre will start in Term 2. After trying a range of formats, the classes will include: Zoom Language classes, Facebook Fitness, Zoom Yoga and online Photography classes (including a free virtual camera club). The Centre’s virtual student and tutor community is growing and more classes and activities will be launched in the coming weeks. The centre is offering 10% discount on selected* classes using the code VIRTUAL10 at checkout, via this link.

The Northside Produce Market organised by the Centre is now also online with more than 70 growers joining the Virtual Market which can be accessed here.


Kirribilli Centre - The Kirribilli Centre has established a community service for people who are self-isolated such as picking up essential supplies. Community members can call The Kirribilli Centre on 9922 4428 and ask to speak to Lisa or Jo for this service. The Kirribilli Centre has also developed some practical tips and suggestions for self-care which are on their website.


Crows Nest Centre - The Crows Nest Centre staff and volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes to continue to provide in-home support for older people and people with a disability. Their services include meals, shopping and freshly laundered sheets and towels. They also provide meals to people who are homeless or at risk. Community Connect Transport -  Community Connect Transport is continuing to offer transport services to support vulnerable North Sydney residents, allowing them to access local services and essential supplies. All Community Connect Transport staff have undertaken COVID-19 Infection Control Training. They are also utilising larger buses within their fleet that are cleaned daily and have fewer clients on board at any one time to meet social distancing requirements. Community Connect Transport offers a Council Shuttle Services for local residents including shopping trips to Woolworths in Neutral Bay on Wednesdays and Fridays. They also provide a shuttle service within the North Sydney LGA every Thursday. Community members can call them on 9490 9500 for more information.
