North Sydney Councillor Dr Alanya Drummond has resigned after five years service. Cr Drummond was elected to Tunks Ward in September 2017 and re-elected in December 2021 to the newly created St Leonards Ward.
Cr Drummond served on the initial Steering Committee for the redevelopment of the North Sydney Olympic Pool and has been a strong supporter of sustainability initiatives, introducing notices of motion to introduce a textile recyling service and organic waste collection.
North Sydney Mayor Zoe Baker thanked Cr Drummond for her service. “On behalf of Council and the North Sydney community, I thank Cr Drummond for her service and wish both her and her family every happiness in the future.”
Council has formally notified the NSW Electoral Commissioner of the resignation. A Returning Officer will be appointed within 14 days and the process for a “countback election” will begin. It is expected that this process will be completed by the end of March 2023.
