Voting is open now for My Community Project - https://www.nsw.gov.au/improving-nsw/projects-and-initiatives/my-community-project - where the public gets to decide which projects receive NSW Government funding.
There are a variety of community projects in the running within the North Sydney Council area, with three supported by Council - a permanent outdoor fitness circuit in Brennan Park, Wollstonecraft, Living Smart Courses for North Sydney residents, and financial support for a ‘passed pets’ art project by Studio A, which help artists with intellectual disability develop their skills. It culminates in a free public art exhibition at the Coal Loader to coincide with Mexico’s Day of the Dead in 2020.
North Sydney Council residents will be able to vote for projects in their electoral areas of either North Shore, or Willoughby.
Projects submitted for the North Shore electorate (within the North Sydney area) include a Brennan Park outdoor fitness circuit, a Studio A ‘passed pets’ art project, a new hearing loop for the Ensemble Theatre, improved community tennis courts at North Sydney Boys High School, North Sydney District Cricket Club expanding opportunities for female players, a Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College Aboriginal community art project and new accessible gardens at Christ Church in Lavender Bay.
If you live in the Willoughby electorate, the projects nominated in the North Sydney area include the Living Smart Courses for residents, new wheelchair and pram access for St Peters Church in Cremorne, laneway murals for Neutral Bay, free food for those in need at the Iskcon Radha Govinda Temple in North Sydney and a youth mental health program for local children.
