Meeting Practices

Council’s meetings are governed by the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government Regulations 2005. Councils are also required to have a Code of Meeting Practice. You can view these in Related Links and Documents below.

From time to time, the Office of Local Government will issue advice and Circulars or comments from the Minister for Local Government in relation to meeting practices. For example, the Office of Local Government Meetings Practice Note 16, which is in Related Documents below.

Council may also seek legal advice in relation to certain resolutions and meeting principles and practices.

Once this advice is considered by Council, it may be made available here below in Related Documents.
