Write: c/- North Sydney Council, PO Box 12, North Sydney, NSW 2059
Sam is North Sydney Council’s youngest Councillor and is looking to bring a fresh perspective on the issues facing North Sydney. Sam was born in St Leonards and has lived in the North Sydney area since 2012, after having lived overseas in Japan and Singapore for 5 years, where he has developed a strong passion for its vibrant community. He has until recently been working in the area managing a hotel in the heart of McMahon’s Point.
Sam's formal qualifications are from the University of Sydney, completing a Bachelor of Political, Economic, and Social Sciences majoring in Political Science, where he is also currently completing his postgraduate law degree. His love of politics and community service began with his deep engagement in student politics at the university and he will seek to bring that experience to Council.
Elected as a Liberal Democrat, Sam will be promoting a back-to-basics, ‘roads, rates, rubbish,’ platform on Council. His main aim is to reduce rates for the people of North Sydney, and to reduce red-tape on small business in the area. He has a strong interest in start-ups and the sharing economy especially, having worked in these areas in the past, and will work to promote that initiative during his term principally through the Innovation Network. Outside of Council, he is currently working for a large telecoms company based in Singapore under their head of legal, with experience working in the legal industry generally.
