Community Nursery Open Day
Venue: Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability Community Nursery
Community members are invited to tour the Coal Loader Community Nursery to see the great work being undertaken by the Bushcare Nursery Volunteers.
You can also receive free native plants* and advice about creating your own native garden.
The Coal Loader Community Nursery has been in operation since 2011, and around 12 Bushcare volunteers meet fortnightly to propagate approximately 10,000 local native plants per year. The Nursery Office houses our native seed bank (and the all-important kettle for morning tea!).
View the whole plant propagation process from the potting-up bench, to the hot house, shade house and hardening-off benches.
There are three time slots allocated for this event, with a maximum of 20 people in attendance at any one time to abide by the restrictions for social gatherings due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
* Only residents are eligible so please bring a rates notice or some proof of residence to receive free native plants.
