Better Business Partnership

The Better Business Partnership (BBP) aims to assist small to medium-sized businesses achieve local recognition through social and environmental sustainability initiatives.

The BBP works closely with the program participants to identify opportunities to reduce energy and water use, improve waste diversion and explore alternative transport means.

The team also assists businesses with environmentally sound purchasing practices, community engagement and staff support.

Partners have seen the benefit of the program by reduced consumption and therefore reduced projected costs (given increased energy and water prices). Importantly, being sustainable in your business practices reduces the environmental footprint of you organisation, which contributes positively to a vibrant and progressive North Sydney.

Business Highlight

Stockland Cammeray, Better Business of the month:

Welcome Stockland Cammeray to the BBP program! Stockland has a long standing commitment to manage climate change risk and reduce its carbon emissions, and this centre has been working hard on reducing their impact. They are limiting their energy usage by upgrading 85% of their lights to LEDs, they are optimising their grey water system in the centre, and recently achieved a 60% diversion rate in waste recycling, thanks to a focus on paper/cardboard and food organic with added facilities and continuous tenant engagement. They also have a couple of Towards Zero Landfill bins in their car park, for shoppers to donate their unwanted clothing, accessories, toys, kitchenware, footwear and mobile phones. They were also the first Stockland centre in Australia to launch an electric vehicle bay in their car park, and the group has partnered with Tesla to install Destination Chargers across their shopping centres. And they very recently turned a vacant tenancy into a temporary play area for children.

Stockland Cammeray achieved all of BBP's 7 sustainability badges, you can find out more about their achievements at the BBP website.
