The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability is a historic multi-use site operated by North Sydney Council.
As an adaptive re-use project, The Coal Loader incorporates many themes including history and sustainability.
The Coal Loader Photography Competition aims to celebrate those themes with a public photo competition across multiple categories:
From its important Aboriginal cultural uses to its industrial heritage, The Coal Loader has many layers of history to explore.
As North Sydney’s premier sustainability venue the site’s adaptive re-use has an intrinsic focus on the environmental aspects that affect us all.
Native Plants & Animals
Situated within Balls Head, in one of Sydney’s greenest suburbs, native Australian flora and fauna are celebrated here.
With its stunning harbour views and adaptive re-use of an ex-industrial site The Coal Loader has a unique landscape with many hidden treasures.
As public parkland and events venue the community are at the heart of what happens here and this category celebrates the human interactions that take place.
There is also wild-card category for a winning image that captures several of these themes, or a unique take on the Coal Loader site.
The competition is open to all, amateurs and professionals alike.
The winner will be announced by Friday 17 December 2021 here and on The Coal Loader Instagram and Facebook pages.
