Waste Avoidance

Before throwing something out consider reselling it, giving it away, or swapping it. The following services may help with working or usable household items.

Freecycle, or in the North Sydney area go to Freecycle Willoughby group (free to register).

The Bower - reuse and repair centres

Do you have a preloved household item you no longer want but you don’t want going to landfill?

North Sydney Council now partners with The Bower - reuse and repair centres

They can come pickup and rehome items

Or you can shop at a Bower Centre for a range of refurbished items

They are an environmental charity and repair cooperative with classes, and can also refer you on to lots of other possible recycling services.

Reverse Garbage

A creative reuse centre making a difference in the world by reducing waste and creating change in the way we look at resources. They inspire and support kids, adults, artists and teachers to consume less, make more, save money - and feel good doing it!

They accept donations on a case-by-case basis.
