Nan Manefield YWA

The Nan Manefield Young Writers Award is a writing prize overseen by Stanton Library and North Sydney Council.

Young people, aged between 11 and 18 years, who are a resident of the Sydney NSW metropolitan area, are invited to submit either a poem or short story of up to 750 words. The competition is judged in five age categories by a panel of professional authors and has prizes totalling over $3,000.

In 2020, due to health concerns, the Awards Night winners announcement took the form of a pre-recorded video featuring comments from the five judges, and the winners spoke about their writing inspiration, plus they read their winning entries.

This year, Stanton Library gathered the stories and poems of the Winners, Highly Commended, and Commended young writers into an eBook.
