Behind the Scenes: North Sydney Council’s historical ‘treasure trove’

Council’s Historical Services department collects and cares for an enormous variety of heritage items – from artworks to archaeology, clothing to cooking equipment. In some cases, we know a great deal about who made an object, who used it, when and where. Often, though, we have to rely on the object itself to provide us with these clues. Only a small proportion of this fascinating collection is on display at any one time; the majority is stored in our dedicated archive facility at Council’s Depot.

To celebrate National Family History Month, you are invited to join Historical Services staff for a free tour behind the scenes of some of these stored artefacts, which have so much to tell us about the people of North Sydney.

Accessibility: Tour includes one flight of stairs; please wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

Meeting Point: The tour will be held at North Sydney Council's depot, exact meeting point will be given to attendees closer to the time.

Online bookings essential.
