Memoir Writing Workshop
Venue: Stanton Library, Conference Room
If you are one who feels you have a story to tell but find it difficult to know where to start or how to articulate your experiences, join us during Seniors' week in a workshop which will kick start your memoir writing project.
Internationally published writers Kandy Shepherd and Cathleen Ross will guide you through this somewhat bewildering terrain of memoir writing.
About the Tutors
Kandy Shepherd swapped a fast-paced career as a magazine editor for a life writing fun, feel-good fiction. A communications degree majoring in journalism lead her to a exciting career as a chief editor in women's magazines in both Australia and England. Kandy's aspirations to become a fiction writer were realised when American publishing house Berkley Sensation wanted to publisher her romance novel Love is a Four-legged Word. Now enjoying a career in contemporary romance writing she is published by Harlequin and Berkley Sensation and has published thirteen books. In between her own writing Kandy enjoys teaming up with friend and fellow writer Cathleen Ross in delivering dynamic and fun writing workshops in libraries around Sydney.
Cathleen Ross is a writing teacher with a BA Dip Ed in English/history, a Graduate Diploma in Communication management and a Diploma in Editing. Cathleen has given workshops at writers’ centres and conferences around the world. She has won or finalled in many competitions including the ChickLitWriters: Stiletto competition, the Passionate Ink: Stroke of Midnight and in the Australian Romance Readers Award. She is multi-published in mystery, women’s fiction, romance and erotica. She loves teaching writing and some of her students have sold their work or finalled in competitions.
