ESL & Foreign Languages

English as a Second Language (ESL) books and CD kits are available to improve your English for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) preparation courses.

For learning foreign languages we have books and CD kits.

You can borrow Chinese, Japanese and Korean magazines.

You can read (in the library) the Daily Chinese Herald.

 

Road to IELTS

This online course provides over 100 hours of interactive activities, advice videos, hints and tips on question types as well as downloadable practice tests. It is comprehensive, up-to-date and aimed precisely at the challenges candidates face - on the road to IELTS. 

You can access either the Academic or General Training version of Road to IELTS from home, using your Stanton Library membership card:

  • access the Academic Version for candidates who will take the IELTS to gain entry into academic institutions.
  • access the General Training Version for candidates who will take the IELTS for immigration and employment purposes.

Community Language Books now available @ Stanton

A range of books in community languages are available for loan courtesy of the State Library of NSW. Books are available for you to browse and borrow from the shelves at Stanton.

ESL Book Group

The ESL Book Group is a reading and conversation group for adults who are learning English as a Second Language. Members need to be at an intermediate reading level or above. The group will give you the opportunity to practise your English and conversation skills by joining in a discussion about a new book every month.

We have two groups one which meets at the library on the second Monday of each month at 6.00pm and one that meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6pm. If you would like to join a group, register your interest by using the form below.
