Stanton Annual Report 2015-16
Welcome to the first online Annual Report for Stanton Library, presented around the themes of Connect, Engage, Learn and Create, with service at the centre as the Library’s core value. The inspiration for these themes is to be found in our customer surveys and visioning workshops with staff, and links to our values and customer service charter.
The Year in Review- 2015/16
This year we saw a nearly 7% increase in visitors to the library. Our 516,478 library visitors attended events such as our popular Writers @Stanton program and storytime sessions; used the library computers, printers & photocopiers; read; studied; researched family history; looked at an exhibition in the Heritage Centre; attended a literature, philosophy or knitting group; learnt something new at our Get Creative classes or Technology Test Drive sessions and borrowed books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, kits and audiobooks from our collection of 164,646 items.
Stanton Library continued to be part of the Shorelink library network which links the five Lower North Shore Council Libraries of Lane Cove, Manly, Mosman, Stanton (North Sydney) and Willoughby and allows library borrowers to have access to a combined collection of over 807,500 items.
The Master Plan for Library Services in North Sydney completed public exhibition in June and was adopted by Council. The Plan includes revitalisation of the Stanton Library building, with increased floor space and is costed at $3.1 million. This project has been included in Council’s long term financial plan (LTFP). The Master Plan also responded to the State Government announcement of two Metro stations, in the North Sydney CBD and in Crows Nest/St Leonards. The Master Plan proposes branch libraries in these locations to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of residents and workforce.
