Connect: Connecting communities

We welcome all members of our community. Our diverse range of resources and programs are developed in response to community feedback.

Key Achievements for 2015-16:

  • Library staff created a Pop-up Lunchtime Library in the North Sydney CBD to connect with business workers during Library and Information Week. The stall featured a striking piece of 3D street art celebrating libraries and reading.

  • We celebrated Divali, the Hindu festival of lights with an afternoon of musical and dance performances, delicious Indian sweets and henna tattoos.

  • The Home Library Service team delivered 9512 items to 85 housebound clients and 3 aged care facilities in the local area.

  • User demand for wireless internet services grew by 176% across the Shorelink network. 2 new ADSL lines have since been added to better meet the needs of users.

  • The Technology Test Drive program delivered 10 user education sessions on a range of topics including ebooks, social media and online safety.

  • 7 new databases were introduced during the year, with a total of 45 maintained by Stanton. A total of 37381 searches were conducted by users both from home and in the library.

  • This year there were 8 day and evening book clubs meeting in the library each month. The library has also introduced book club kits for use by local groups. There are 28 kits available, each containing 10 copies of popular titles.

“Ladies & Gentlemen Stanton Library, just a note of thanks for all the pleasure you have afforded me over 2015. I have enjoyed the lectures – taken suggestions from your “new book” display – and assistance from Help Desk!  - Robert
