Create: Inspiring Creativity
We offer activities, events and resources that encourage self-expression and new ways of thinking and perceiving the world.
Key Achievements for 2015-16:
259 young people aged 11-18 entered their creative prose in the Nan Manefield young writers award, and prizes worth over $2000 were awarded to the five winners.
We held a children’s art exhibition called Stories to tell – a colourful display of artworks and stories from local primary school children.
Our Get Creative program held 10 workshops covering a variety of activities including painting, singing and crafting.
Stanton Library took part in the Lost Birds Found project which invited people to attend workshops to make hand-sewn birds during Mental Health Month in October. The birds were distributed around North Sydney for the community to find as a way to increase awareness and provide an opportunity for conversations around positive mental health.
A third Creative Minds in Conversation evening event was held at Don Bank Museum. This event comprised of a panel of artists discussing the work of playwright Samuel Beckett.
“Wonderful morning, worked at a good pace. First time drawing or painting. I will do it again.” -Feedback from a Get Creative participant.
