St Leonards Park is being transformed into a winter wonderland for the July school holidays with a 24m x 20m ice rink and snow slide being installed in front of the music shell. There will be skating sessions throughout the day and evening (and learn to skate lessons at 9am on Sunday mornings).
The 17-day winter festival is open 6-22 July with an ice show featuring some of Australia’s best skaters. There will also be an opportunity to see experienced skaters during the session changeovers.
Off the ice, Winterland provides activities for the young and young at heart, including rides on traditional favourites such as a ferris wheel and carousel. A food village, with outdoor heaters, will sell traditional European treats: German hot dogs, Dutch pancakes and hot chocolate.
