Woolworths & Alexander St carpark

August 2017

The new Alexander Street shopping complex and carpark redevelopment in Crow’s Nest has won a prestigious national award.

The new complex, which features a multi-level Woolworths store, five smaller speciality stalls and a 280 space carpark, officially opened to the public in May last year.

The project - a joint public private partnership between North Sydney Council and Woolworths – was awarded overall "Winner" in the Retail Development category at the national Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards on 20 July 2017.

More than 40 projects were shortlisted as finalists across 15 categories at the national Urban Taskforce Awards, with the NSW Minister for Planning Hon Anthony Roberts MP presenting the awards to the winners. The judges for the awards included the NSW Government Architect Peter Poulet.

This is the first time North Sydney Council has won an Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Award at a national level. The project was also shortlisted as a finalist in two categories "Retail Development" and "Government Leadership" in the recently held UDIA Awards.

April 2016

Construction work on the joint redevelopment of Woolworths and the Alexander St Carpark in Crows Nest began in early May 2014 and celebrated its first day of trading on 28 April 2016.

The new $52 million retail development has doubled the size of the supermarket, increased parking from 130 to 280 spaces and provided five new specialty retail stores.

With 3,900sqm of floor space, the new Woolworths is the first full-range supermarket in Crows Nest.

We thank the community and businesses of Crows Nest for their patience over the last two years of construction.

Car Park

The new Council car park attached to the development is open and operational (fees apply).
