The traffic control signals installation in the North Sydney CBD commenced in July, 2015.
The works entail the construction of footings for new Multi Purpose Poles (MPP), installation of conduits, wiring and erection of MPP.
Also transfer of the RMS infrastructure such as traffic and pedestrian lanterns, pedestrian buttons and regulatory and directional signage at seven (7) intersections in the North Sydney CBD.
The installation of the MPP is in conjunction with the CBD street lighting project and the Public Domain upgrade of Walker and Berry Streets. Some of the MPP associated with the traffic control signals have been utilised to provide street lighting.
The project is on schedule to be completed in 2016.
Six of the intersections are complete (footings and poles).
The seven intersections upgraded and awaiting RMS approval (2016) are:
- Walker and Mount Streets
- Walker and Barry Streets
- Berry and Miller Streets
- Pacific Highway and Berry Street
- Pacific Highway, Arthur and High Streets
- Pacific Highway, Walker and Blue Streets
