Background

In November 2015, the NSW State Government announced the Sydney Metro City and Southwest project - part of the wider Sydney Metro line. The project will deliver new railway infrastructure for Sydney, including two new Metro stations within the North Sydney Local Government Area - at Crows Nest and Victoria Cross (North Sydney Centre). Construction of the line is expected to begin in 2017, with train operations underway by 2024.

North Sydney Council is working to ensure that the arrival of this major new transport infrastructure generates the highest possible level of benefit to the North Sydney community, particularly in terms of the public domain, pedestrian safety and amenity, street life and economic activity. We're also working with TfNSW to ensure that local impacts during construction are minimised.
