About the Garden
The Coal Loader Platform Community Garden is set in the ex-industrial Coal Loader site, on the old coal loading platform. The garden was opened on 24 March 2018. The allotment gardens offer North Sydney residents the potential to sow, grow, and harvest their own crops all the while enjoying stunning views over the harbour.

The plots are rented from North Sydney Council for $30 per square metre, per year.

The garden is open for viewing any day of the week.

The allotment gardens aim to allow individuals to:

  • Sow, grow and harvest your own organic produce.
  • Learn about, and use, practical organic gardening methods.

  • Help reduce household waste through composting.

  • Meet new people through a shared interest.

Plantings

Allotment holders are welcome to plant whatever they wish as long as it is edible and grown organically. Gardeners are welcome to work in the garden any time.
