Join us at The Coal Loader Artisans Market for a relaxed community stitching session hosted by Textiles Sydney.

Visitors are invited to drop in and add their own stitching to a collective sewing project that has been running for over a decade.

The Fabric for a Feast project is a collaborative embroidery work that started in 2015. The tablecloth has travelled through exhibitions, community events and stitching sessions, with hundreds of people contributing their own stitches, patterns and stories along the way. Embedded within the fabric are contributions from children, experienced embroiderers, refugees, community members and people who are no longer with us. Rather than creating a finished object, the project celebrates the process of making together and the connections formed through shared creativity.

Now, members of the North Sydney community are invited to add to the work.

Just drop in, no bookings or experience required. All materials will be provided and guidance is available for beginners.

Suitable for ages 5 and over.

About Textiles Sydney

Textiles Sydney is one of six member groups that operates from Council’s Primrose Park Art & Craft Centre in Cremorne. They're a collective of makers formed in 2020 to foster and promote textiles both as an art form and a craft practice. It provides a forum for textiles practitioners to share knowledge and also facilitates community art projects.

Members include embroiderers and stitchers, spinners, weavers, knitters, sewers, quilters, lacemakers, dyers, felters and those who explore textile art and craft in all its forms. The aim of the group is to share knowledge and conversation and enjoy each other’s company. In addition to regular meetings, they also hold workshops on a range of topics and techniques, as well as exhibitions in the Primrose Park gallery space.
