Council met on Monday 23 February 2026 to consider a range of governance, planning, and financial matters.
North Sydney Olympic Pool Redevelopment Project Update
Construction is now substantially complete. Final testing and commissioning is underway as the project nears practical completion and handover. Based on current site activity, practical completion is expected in March 2026. View the update
Investment and Loan Borrowings Report (as at 31 January 2026)
Councillors received an update on investments and borrowings. In January, the investment portfolio was $450,425 above the year‑to‑date budget. View the report
Council Submission – A New Approach to Strategic Planning
Council endorsed its submission on the State Government’s planning reforms, including the Sydney Plan and Statewide Industrial Lands Policy. This will help ensure North Sydney’s needs – housing, jobs, open space, and infrastructure – are represented in statewide planning.
287 Miller Street, Cammeray – Community Housing Project Completion
Council reviewed finalisation and transfer arrangements for the joint community housing project. The Cammeray project provides high-quality accommodation for vulnerable residents, reflecting North Sydney’s long-standing commitment to affordable housing and social inclusion
North Sydney Development Control Plan (DCP) 2025 — Electrification of Residential Development
Following exhibition of the DCP, Council considered submissions to a draft amendment that supports cleaner, more energy‑efficient homes and advances Council’s long‑term sustainability goals.
2026 Australian Local Government Association Annual Conference
Council reviewed proposed submissions to the 2026 ALGA National General Assembly, including a call to reinstate and secure long‑term funding for the CSIRO as local governments adapt to coastal hazards driven by climate change.
2nd Quarterly Commercial Property Portfolio Report FY2025/26
Income on an accrual basis for the year to date was 5% below budget. The Property Portfolio vacancy rate saw a small decrease at the end of Q1 (30 September 2025).
Code of Conduct
Council noted annual statistics related to Code of Conduct matters, supporting accountability and good governance.
Traffic Matters
A parking restriction trial in West Street, North Sydney showed positive results, with increased parking availability in line with Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy. The proposed change was approved.
