North Sydney Council will carry out landscaping upgrade works along Willoughby Road, Crows Nest as part of our ongoing commitment to creating greener, more beautiful streets that everyone can enjoy.
The works, occurring between Clark Street and Albany Street, will start on Monday, 13 April to improve the look, health and longevity of street trees and planter boxes in the area.
What’s happening?
The works will focus on refreshing the planter boxes and improving conditions for street trees. This includes:
- Removal of old fig tree stumps from the tall planter boxes
- Repair and restoration of existing planter boxes
- Planting of mature, native Callistemon shrubs to enhance colour and street vitality
- Replacement of loose mulch around London Plane trees with porous stabilised material to improve water penetration and support tree health
The upgrades will improve tree health and enhance the overall look and feel of Willoughby Road.
When will works take place?

What to expect during the works
To reduce impacts on the community and businesses, the works will be completed in stages. The contractor will speak directly with affected businesses before work begins near their premises.
During construction, temporary parking restrictions will be in place near work areas. These areas will be clearly marked with barricades and special work zone signage. Residents and businesses are kindly asked to move vehicles out of these zones while works are underway. Keeping the areas clear means the upgrades will be completed quickly, safely and efficiently so parking can be returned as soon as possible. Impacted residents and businesses will be mailed a reminder notice as the construction date approaches.
Council and the contractor will work together to minimise disruption and keep the area safe. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these improvements are carried out.
