Balls Head Reserve in Waverton will be temporarily closed to the public on Tuesday 14 July from 7am to approximately 1pm to support works at nearby Goat Island.
During this time, eight new power poles will be delivered to Goat Island (part of Sydney Harbour National Park) using a heavy‑lift helicopter.
What to expect
- Monday 13 July, 5am to 7am: Materials will be delivered and staged at Balls Head Drive and in the Balls Head Reserve carpark. Motor vehicle access may be restricted during this time.
- Tuesday 14 July:
- Traffic control will be in place from 5am
- An exclusion zone will operate from 7am to approximately 1pm
- The reserve will be temporarily closed during helicopter operations
For safety reasons, public access to the reserve will not be permitted while helicopter operations are underway, in line with Civil Aviation Safety Authority requirements.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service staff and contractors will provide on-site community notifications and traffic management during the works.
