Council this week progressed transport, sustainability and community initiatives, including a new active transport route and EV charging proposals.
Neutral Bay to Mosman walking and cycling route moves ahead
Plans for a safer, better-connected walking and cycling route between Neutral Bay and Mosman are moving forward, with Council approving the concept design for the next stage of the project.
The proposed route aims to make it safer and easier for people to walk and cycle between the two centres, while improving connections to local shops, schools, public transport and the wider active transport network.
The project will now move into detailed design, with further consultation with Neutral Bay Synagogue and the North Sydney Transport Association, and further consideration of the proposed treatment at Wickham and Yeo Streets.
Heritage bus shelters set for renewal
Some of North Sydney's distinctive heritage bus shelters are getting some much-needed care, with maintenance and repair work planned to help preserve them for the future.
The shelters are a familiar part of North Sydney's streetscape, and the works will help keep them in good condition while retaining their heritage character. Bus timetable and transport information will also be added where available, making the shelters more useful for passengers.
Council will continue to look at opportunities to restore remaining heritage shelters as future funding becomes available.
Have your say on more kerbside EV charging
More kerbside electric vehicle charging could be coming to North Sydney, with the community set to have its say on 27 potential locations across the area.
The proposed sites are part of efforts to make it easier for residents without access to private off-street charging to switch to electric vehicles.
Local consultation will take place before any final decisions are made, giving residents the opportunity to provide feedback on proposed charging locations in their neighbourhoods.

Next steps for Monford Place
Council will continue negotiations with SCEGGS Redlands over the proposed closure and sale of Monford Place.
Any formal road closure would require a statutory process, including public consultation and an opportunity for the community to have its say.
Also on the agenda
Council agreed to place its Draft Debt Recovery Policy on public exhibition, giving the community an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed approach before it returns to Council for further consideration.
Council also welcomed the Federal Government's Federation Compact with Local Government and supported continued advocacy for sustainable funding arrangements that help councils deliver the infrastructure and services their communities rely on.
