A potential sale of part of Edward Street, protection of heritage pubs, safer streets and active transport improvements were among the issues discussed at this week's North Sydney Council meeting.

Residents will have an opportunity to help shape the future of Edward Street after Council endorsed consultation on the potential closure and sale of part of the street to Shore School.
A community working group will also be established to look at traffic, parking, pedestrian safety and neighbourhood impacts around the school precinct before the matter returns to Council for further consideration.
Heritage pub review gets underway
Work is beginning on a review of North Sydney's remaining heritage pubs, with a consultant brief now being prepared.
The review will help identify venues of heritage significance and consider how these local landmarks can be protected into the future.
Safer streets and better connections
Council noted progress on pedestrian safety improvements on Spofforth Street, Cremorne, and ongoing work to improve cycling connections across the area.
Seven new pedestrian crossings were completed across North Sydney during the past year, helping make it safer and easier for people to get around their neighbourhoods.
Trees, recycling and community projects
Council's annual performance review highlighted a range of projects delivered across North Sydney during 2025-26.
Highlights included:
• 353 street trees planted across streets, parks and reserves
• planning for future food organics and garden organics recycling
• environmental restoration projects
• youth and community programs
• support for domestic and family violence initiatives.
Other decisions
Council also endorsed a draft Procurement Policy for public exhibition and received updates on Council investments, borrowings and its commercial property portfolio.
