Stanton Library Strategic Plan

Stanton Library and Historical Services Strategic Plan

Stanton Library Historical Services Strategic Plan 2016-2021 (1MB)

These are the strategies with which Council will deliver library and historical services over the next five years to the North Sydney community.

Council will do this through the Stanton Library, and the North Sydney Heritage Centre on Level 1; Don Bank Museum; St Thomas’ Rest Park (including the Sexton’s Cottage); and related services and programs.

Stanton Library Masterplan

In 2015, a Masterplan was developed to design the future for library services in North Sydney, with priorities for the next 5 to 10 years.

Council engaged CK Design International to prepare a plan for refurbishment and redesign of the current Stanton Library building to accommodate the changing demands for library services.

Masterplan Works

In November 2016 Council’s Parks Department replanted the Shade Garden on the lower ground floor.

In January 2017, a new customer service area was installed on the ground floor. The space includes a purpose-built customer service desk, improved display shelving for popular items, and new seating and reading area.

In July 2017 the Ground Floor courtyard was given a new look by our Property Department under the guidance of the Masterplan.

The Library entrance is next being reviewed.
