St Leonards Public Domain Strategy

At its meeting on 8 December 2003, Council adopted the St Leonards Public Domain Strategy. The Strategy involved a review of all public areas within St Leonards, which is bounded by Hume, Clarke, Oxley and Chandos Streets and the Pacific Highway. The St Leonards Public Domain Strategy provides a framework for upgrading public domain areas that will accommodate increased population growth, resulting from redevelopment of the area over the next 15 years.

The next stage of the process is to develop a detailed masterplan and plan of management for St Leonards. It will include detailed investigations such as appropriate areas for footpath widening, and choice of paving materials. The Strategy consists of strategies, actions and design principles to guide the future upgrade of the public domain in St Leonards.

Stage Two of the process will include a Plan of Management for implementing the strategies contained within the Public Domain Strategy. It will include more detailed design and staging of the improvements (in terms of priorities and timing) as well as Traffic Management Plan, Street Tree Masterplan and Lighting Strategy. A specifications manual will also be developed to provide additional detail for public domain works undertaken in the St Leonards.

The strategy can be downloaded below, or viewed at Council's Customer Service Centre from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
