As part of Sydney Craft Week and Mental Health Month, Textiles Sydney is offering a free felting taster workshop evening to demonstrate two different felting techniques.
Have you ever wanted to try felting? Join Textiles Sydney's Anne Foy and Alessandra Gottlieb for a full felting taster evening. Learn the basic principles of felting by making a small felted piece. You'll learn to layer wool fibres, incorporate a thin layer of silk and wet and roll to obtain a fully felted piece. This can then be turned into a small brooch using additional embellishments. Additionally, drawing inspiration from traditional nomadic felts, we will make a small contemporary piece. Using sheets of partly felted wool, you will cut and laminate layers. The pieces will then be rolled and integrated to become a whole cloth.
The cost is free, but registration is required on Textiles Sydney website or by emailing textilessydney@gmail.com.
All welcome, no prior experience necessary.
