All are welcome at this Refugee Week evening to amplify the voices of refugees through speakers, music, and poetry.

Please join us in acknowledging the strength and resilience of refugees and asylum seekers from Iran and Afghanistan.

Speakers include:

  • Tahera Nassrat on the journey from Afghanistan and current situation for women
  • Shokufeh Kavani on the Iranian freedom movement
  • Rebecca Langton from the Refugee Council of Australia
  • Adriana Karapetian from the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS)

Also enjoy:

  • a delicious supper, sweets and refreshments
  • live performances of Persian folk music led by Ehsan Kachooei and Arman Gouniaei
  • Kavah Akbari, a performance poet on the themes of breaking the silence and identity
  • information on our multicultural communities, refugees and asylum seekers
